i was shaking as we felt the finger of God,
i could hear You asking if you really want it,
"i want it all, you can wreck me"
"i want it all, you can wreck me"
today Disciple's latest album "Horseshoes & Handgrenades" dropped and well... if you preordered one of the packages, you got 7 exclusive songs that were cut from the album. This song, titled "The Fury (Wreck Me)" was one of 2 (of the b-sides, not the whole album) that really caught my attention during the first listen through. I then had to put the song on repeat to learn the chorus which I posted above.
After several listens, I realized why this song struck a chord with me. Okay, I'm going to go make those of you readers who haven't heard it listen.
Here's a youtube link if the vid above isn't working or loading for you:
Anyways, continuing on....
nearly a year ago (last november) when I visited Kenosha for the first time & really began looking at completely different options for my life than I'd ever considered before, someone had talked about being ruined by God. Being ruined by Him so that I would have to be eternally, kingdom minded and nothing less than Jesus would satisfy me. I was warned that things would change and I would start to not be able to recognize myself anymore, it would be the process that would ruin me, all God's work of course.
Not too long after returning home from that trip, I had a word spoken over me by a very trusted adult who I know is solid in their faith. He said, "you are so hungry for God, i can see it within you, transformation will be tough and you're going to be facing a lot of ugly things, especially within yourself that you're not going to want to see, and it'll bring you to your knees, but don't give up because there is something so much greater in store for your life." I'd forgotten this recently, like a friend of mine said the other night, when you're in the middle of pain, it's a very self-centered thing because you can't see outside of the hurt that has you trapped. The trick is to move past yourself and focus on God's purposes and intentions, not that it's wrong to hurt, but it's about perspective.
ANYWAY. I'm getting sleepy and rambling on...umm so yeah. Basically this song SUPER touched me when I heard it. It really brought me back to the beginning & reminding me of the days when the evidences of God's hand in my daily life was SO INTENSE that it was unmistakable, and how God's presence was SO STRONG and it never seemed to leave me, even when it was the darkest of night...and how I've drifted away again...and well... it's good to be brought back to that place. I think everyone needs it at one point or another in their lives.
Oh, cool. I just got an email from Kevin Young.
...cue the waterworks.
